Many fun-filled social events fill the calendar in Ridgeway and most are held downtown.  The annual Ridgeway Summer Festival in July, Fall Festival in October and The Spirit of Christmas in December with horse-drawn carriage rides and singing choirs and carolers are favorites.  Farmers Markets highlight the creative array of homemade food and drinks.  Art-by-the-Market features wonderful handmade arts, jewels and crafts formed by talented artisans.  Egg Hunt, Harvest Festival and parade, car shows, concerts—many old-fashioned activities.

Historic Backdrop

Ridgeway was originally named for the limestone ridge that passes north/south through the village.  Following the Ridge is the main street, Ridge Road, a wagon trail in old Bertie Township.  The first settlers came in the late 1700s and farmed the land.  After the railroad line was built, other service industries popped up.  In 1866, the Battle of Ridgeway put the area on the map

Visitors enjoy strolling through some rich heritage at museums.  People learn of the Irish-American Civil War and take interest in the Ridgeway Battlefield Museum.  The Fenian invasions can also be traced through a scenic drive.  Fort Erie Historical Museum highlights the Crystal Beach Amusement Park.  Many people participate in local tours and fishing charters.
