Crystal Beach

Crystal Beach Homes and Real Estate – Then and Now: On the northeastern tip of Lake Erie in Ontario, real estate in Crystal Beach sprang up in the late 1800s.  Vacationing families from across Toronto and New York hunkered down in lakefront cottages and estates.  Many traveled on the majestic SS Canadiana and the Americana to sail, fish and create memories at Crystal Beach Amusement Park.

Crystal Beach offers a bit of quietude and tremendous lakefront beauty, relaxation and recreation.  The town of 8500 residents lies directly across from Buffalo, New York on the southernmost edge of Fort Erie in Ontario, Canada.  Although the park has long since been closed, the beach is semi-protected and there is a selection of delightful Crystal Beach homes.

History of Crystal Beach

Crystal Beach Park started as a camp and was named for its clear waters.  The heyday history is documented in several books and documentaries.  The employees of Crystal Beach Park built their cottages on the sand dunes.  This allowed them to be close to work.

The substantial change happened when sideshows and the big Crystal Beach Amusement Park arrived.  Patrons were shuttled by steamboat.  At its peak 20,000 visitors a day would pass through the area, the number boosted by the large 3000-passenger ships coming from major cities.  A Scenic Railway, rides and roller coasters, entertainment and many unique offerings created 101 years of memories at Crystal Beach Park.
