Fort Erie Ontario boasts numerous recreation trails for you to enjoy year round.

 Fort Erie Ontario Canada has a number of recreation trails that connect communities and offer natural areas for all to enjoy:

 

Erie Beach Trail – Recognized for excellence in Urban Design with a prestigious Niagara Community Design Award in 2008. Formerly a CN rail corridor. Maintained by Fort Erie Infrastructure Services Department and volunteers through the Adopt-A-Trail program.

Friendship Trail – Along with the Niagara River Recreational Trail for 50 kilometers of beautiful trail for walking, jogging, cycling and rollerblading. Also popular in winter for cross country skiing and snowshoeing. The Friendship Trail forms the southerly link of the Trans-Canada Trail System and Greater Niagara Circle Route. Attractions along the Friendship Trail include Old Fort Erie; Fort Erie Historical Museum; Ridgeway Battlefield Museum; Shagbark Trail, Crystal Beach Waterfront Park, and access to Lake Erie & camping areas.

Lions Nature Trail – Located behind Crystal Ridge Library 89 Ridge Rd. S. and is popular with walkers and joggers.

Niagara River Recreational Trail – Considered to be one of the most beautiful drives in the world, the Fort Erie leg of the Niagara Parkway overlooks the Niagara River, Peace Bridge and Riverwalk. Many locations for public parking.

Stevensville Conservation Area – 121 acres containing Carolinian forest, wetland, fishing pond, open picnic area and the meandering Black Creek. Conservation efforts are assisted by the Fort Erie Conservation Club. Located at the west end of Main Street, Stevensville at Ott Road.

Shagbark Trail – Wooded & meadowed 64-acre nature park enjoyable for its birds, wildflowers, grasses, and other natural life. Located at the corner of Dominion Road and Burleigh Road, a project of the the Town of Fort Erie and Bert Miller Nature Club, with public parking.

Trans-Canada Trail – Fort Erie is one of the few communities in the country selected to host a pavilion for the 17,000-km Trans-Canada Trail. This trail stretches from St. John, Newfoundland to Victoria, British Columbia and as far north as Tukuoyaktuk.
